Social disorganization is when a group of people or a community can not come to an agreement and settle out problems to get to a solution. "Social Disorganization - Criminology - Oxford Bibliographies - Obo." Social Disorganization. N.p., 2 Oct. 2015. Web. 02 Oct. 2015.
Lord of the Flies is a perfect example of social disorganization. It is about a group of boys who are going on a trip and suddenly their plan crashes and lands them astray on an island. At first the boys think it is all fun and games without any grown-ups and authority. But after awhile the boys find out they have nothing but each other so if they are going to get through this adventure they need to have rules and regulations. They soon find out that this might be harder than they think. The boys soon split into groups and each are trying to out do the other. Everyone is getting into fights and they can not agree on much. All of them want to be in charge and no one wants to listen. They soon learn that they have to fight for themselves and step up to the plate. Many of the boys are having a difficult time with this and there is no one there to help. Food and water are being fought over and the boys are getting thinner and weaker. After awhile some of the boys die and the rest are physically and emotionally exhausted. What they thought was a free vacation away from parents and rules turned into survival of the fittest. This movie is a valuable lesson on how humans can get without our normal organization. When social disorganization happens our world as we know it changes for the worse. Everyone is for themselves and it is up to you for your own survival.
